 Event: Quantifying Uncertainty in Wet Atmospheric Deposition Workshop

In this Synthesis Working Group, we propose to develop and apply approaches to estimating uncertainty in precipitation inputs of nutrients for several LTER sites.

We are pleased to announce our upcoming training workshop, Data Acquisition from Remote Locations,
sponsored by the Long Term Ecological Research Network Office and the University of New Mexico Sevilleta Field Station. This intensive workshop will be held June 10-15, 2012 at the Sevilleta Field Station in central New Mexico.  We will employ a combination of field demonstrations, lectures, hands-on activities, and discussions focusing on three general topics related to the acquisition and handling of environmental data typical at LTER sites: wireless telemetry and networking, photovoltaic power for instrumentation, and connecting field instrumentation to and programming Campbell dataloggers.

Event: 2012 LTER All Scientist Meeting

Location: YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado 

Date:  September 10th to the 13th, 2012


The 2012 All Scientists Meeting (ASM) will once again be held at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, Colorado from September 10th to the 13th. The Program Committee, made up of a broad range of people representing the whole LTER community, has worked hard to create a meeting that is both focused and open for scientific interactions at many levels.

Plenary presentations will focus on the ASM theme of “The Unique Role of the LTER Network in the Anthropocene: Collaborative Science across Scales”. There are plans for over 75 Working Group meetings in seven working group sessions, over 400 posters, four evening mixers, and pre-ASM meetings for information managers, graduate students, education representatives, and the LTER Executive Board. Ample free time is integrated within the program to allow for ad-hoc scientific interaction as well. Logistics for the meeting are handled by the LTER Network Office in collaboration with The Schneider Group, a company specializing in meeting organization.

ForestSAT 2012 is the 5th in a series of international conferences promoting scientifically based understanding of how spatial analysis technologies can help describe and monitor forested systems. The purpose of the
ForestSAT 2012 conference is to promote scientifically-based understanding of how spatial analysis technologies can help describe and monitor forested systems.

Event: EIMC - SilviLaser 2012

Location: Vancouver, Canada

SilviLaser 2012 is the twelfth international conference focusing on applications of laser systems for forestry and forest landscapes. Previous conferences have taken place in Canada, Australia, Sweden, Germany, USA, UK, Japan, and Finland. The return to Canada is aimed at  bringing together research scientists and practitioners from around the world to share their experience in the development and application of LiDAR for forest and vegetated environments.
